Do
you know that a domestic cooking gas cylinder
contains 14.2 Kg (plus or minus 150 gm) of Liquefied
Petroleum Gas (LPG)?
Now add
to that the weight of the empty cylinder (already
marked on its body). And you arrive at the correct
weight of a filled cooking gas cylinder. Anything
less and you are not getting your due.
Checks
at our end. At BPCL, we have built in
a series of checks in the system to ensure that
the LPG that reaches you is of the correct weight.
First,
at our LPG Bottling Plants, the cylinders are
filled through a preset weighing mechanism. They
are then check-weighed for the correct fill on
a check scale.
Next,
they are fitted with leak-tight safety caps and
pilfer-proof seals before they move out of the
plant.
Finally,
all our LPG distributors are instructed to carry
out 100% weighing checks to ensure that each and
every cylinder is of the correct weight.
What should
you do? In spite of all there tests, you may still
suspect that you are paying for an under weight
cylinder, at the time of taking delivery. To put
your doubts to rest, all you need to do is to
call up your distributor. He will collect your
cylinder and get it weighed at his godown, in
your presence. And if your cylinder is indeed
underweight, we will replace it immediately. At
no extra charge.
